Fleas
*Heat kills (Fleas will dies at 155 degrees in about 21 minutes for larger infestations, or singular fleas about 65 minutes or greater)

About Fleas:

Fleas are less common in Northern Nevada than other areas where the climate is warmer. Fleas can be a nuisance and even be mistaken for bed bug bites when they are affecting humans. Fleas have rear jointed appendage legs and can jump about 7 inches high and 13 inches in length.

Self Treatment Control Methods:

If you suspect a flea infestation in your home, you can take steps to reduce the pest by:

  1. Launder and dry on the hottest heat possible all ben linens, blankets and pet bedding.
  2. Floors, area rugs, and furniture – vacuum daily, pay close attention to areas near pets.
  3. Dog houses, pet perches, and under cat trees – can be harborage locations for eggs, which will make control more difficult if not found and controlled.

Heat Pest Services recommends this self-preparation and cleaning of bedding and floors as a “knockdown” method. In most cases this is paired with a professional spray treatment utilizing IPM to effectively eliminate all traces of the pest and prevent re-occurring entry.
