About Clothes Moths:

Clothes Moths are typically referred to as two species, the Case making clothes moths and the webbing clothes moths. Both are about 1 cm long and yellowish brown in color. Adult Clothes moths are not the culprit of the clothing damage however, it is the larvae that feed on hair, cashmere, fur, feathers, wool, and prefer dark warm, humid spaces or dirty unwashed linens and clothing.

Where to Find Clothes Moths:

Clothes Moths can be found around mohair, cashmere, fur, feathers, wool, and prefer dark warm, humid spaces or dirty unwashed linens and clothing. Some will leave behind a web that looks like dried snot.

Self Treatment Control Methods:

Keep linens and blankets, jackets laundered and clean that are in storage. Ensure to seal any cracks and crevices around your home to prevent unwanted pests. If found, dry cleaning is most effective method to rid the infested items of the larvae. Alternatively washing in hot water and drying, or steam cleaning.
